Dad and I were bored and Mum wanted us out of the house so she could get on with her marking and studies. So we decided to grab our cameras and tripods and go out for a photography walk. We drove to a Country Park, about 15 minutes from where we live, sorted out our
What's it all about?
Hi I’m Poppy Hewett and I have discovered a passion for photography. So after some pestering, my dad bought me a second hand Canon camera from eBay – for about £50. Dad got me a Canon 50D – but it was too heavy for me, so he let me swap it for his old 1100d (much easier for me to use). I may eventually get the 50d – but for now, most of the photos you will see on here are taken with my dad’s old 1100d and some basic lenses (my dad took the photo of me on this page with his camera).
This website will enable you to follow my journey through learning the basics like: aperture, shutter speed and ISO. I will be posting lots of fun photos that I will have taken while learning and mastering the arts of photography. I am being taught by my dad and am enjoying it very much. With the photos that I will be posting there will be a small summary of what I have learnt whilst taking it and what we were aiming for it to look like. Hope you have fun exploring the arts of photography.

I probably should have typed this one first, but have already put another post up and now looking at my site, I thought I should let you know how this all started. My dad has always been a keen photographer and has taken photos of weddings and events for a long time. I used to
My first “lesson” in photography – aperture. So it was a lovely sunny evening and Mum & Dad suggested we took a trip to the seaside – firstly for fish and chips on the beach and secondly to bring my camera along. So off we set to a very quiet but wonderful beach called Greatstone.
My second “lesson” in photography – shutter speed. So a nice sunny weekend evening and Dad says that we could go to the park close to our house and take some photos and that he would teach me some stuff about shutter speed or how fast the shutter opens and closes. As always, Dad brought
